Our shoulders are an especially busy part of the anatomy that perform a wide range of functions — everything from scratching our backs to tossing a curveball. It’s no wonder sayings like “shoulder the burden” and “shoulder to the grindstone” have become part of the vocabulary. All that activity has a price, however, and shoulder injuries are quite common.
At the offices of Oklahoma Shoulder Center PLLC, our orthopedists are specialists with a deep understanding of the complex system of muscles, bone and tendons comprising our shoulders. We have the state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to determine the source of the problem, and the experience to develop a treatment plan to relieve the pain and get you back to the activities you love. Whether you’re a swimmer, pitcher, or tennis player, or someone simply performing everyday tasks, you can count on the attention and care you’ll receive from our doctors and staff.
Shoulder problems generally fall into several categories: A fractured bone; a tear or inflammation of the tendons; arthritis due to wear and tear; or instability when the arm bone comes out of the socket. Sometimes an impingement occurs when the shoulder blade is pressing on the soft tissue underneath. Another common injury is a tear in the rotator cuff, which is a group of tendons attached to the arm bone. Our orthopedists will perform a thorough examination including evaluating your medical history and may order tests such as an X-ray, MRI or CAT scan to pinpoint the source of your pain. Afterward we will create a treatment plan that may include physical therapy, medication, or surgery if the damage to the shoulder does not respond to other methods.
If you have questions or concerns about shoulder pain, bring them to the orthopedists at the offices of Oklahoma Shoulder Center PLLC, and we’ll bring you relief. Contact us today to schedule a consultation.
