The rotator cuff is actually a group of muscles and tendons that connect the upper arm bone to the shoulder blade. The function of these muscles is to stabilize the shoulder, and to allow the arm to lift and rotate. If a rotator cuff tear occurs, this may limit your arm movement and your ability to do your normal activities. You may also experience considerable pain when you attempt to move your shoulder.
