Oklahoma Shoulder Center PLLC currently has 4 locations and one of our locations is in my hometown, Edmond Oklahoma!
Our patients travel from all over and some are not familiar with Edmond, so I would like to tell you about some of the fun things and places to visit while you are in town.
Edmond is the home of the University of Central Oklahoma which is a beautiful college, and has some really cool historical artifacts and statues. Edmond prides itself on education, and in fact, OU Medical Center (OU is not only known for “Boomer Sooner” but also known for their medical program, it produces some pretty amazing doctors, if I do say so, myself! ) OU has a hospital in Edmond, where Dr. Nolan does some of her surgeries. It is a small town to be a college town, but it's it rapidly growing.
If you happen to book an appointment at our Edmond location during the lunch time hours (or dinner hours, for after your appointment) there are several places that have special food items, that you cannot get anywhere else! Cafe 501 is a unique little place. It's like a trendy little deli/bakery type of restaurant. I call it a deli/bakery type of place to describe the appearance as you will see the yummy baked goods in the cabinet when you walk in, but basically you could get any kind of food there from fresh market salads to burgers to steak. I mean, it's just pretty endless and delicious! Speaking of steaks there is a restaurant in Edmond called Boulevard Steakhouse. It is a very fancy, white linen tablecloth type of a restaurant. I went there during a work dinner and it was almost like what I imagine being on the Titanic must’ve been like. The wait staff are so dressed up and there seems to be one waiter/waitress per diner. They bring everything to you, right away, and refill everything right away. They stand behind you (off in a distance) and wait for you to order. It’s very beautiful in there and also their food is amazing! The way they plate the food it is like something from a TV show, and it all tastes so good! It was one of the best experiences I've ever had eating out!
There are several good Mexican restaurants and local drive-through’s, that are common to pretty much every city, as well, but 501 Cafe and Boulevard Steakhouse are just so worth mentioning and true Edmond originals!
Edmond has a relatively new movie theater called Show Biz cinemas, but it is much more than just a theater. Aside from the fact that on Tuesday nights they have great discounts for everyone and every movie, they also have bowling and video arcade games. It's like a miniature Main Event type of place. You can also get almost any kind of food there. They have a restaurant, so it's not just popcorn, drinks and candy. It's a lot of fun and the movie theater seats are very comfortable, like reclining, big cushiony chairs.
Even though Edmond is a rapidly growing city, it still has a charming little mid-town square area. If you get the chance to go by 2nd and Broadway, there's even an old time “Old Town” big stand up antique clock in the middle of downtown Edmond. There are also painted Muriel's of Route 66 on the back of different buildings, since historic Route 66 goes right through Edmond.
Not far from our office is a little town next to Edmond called Arcadia. There is a Lake in Arcadia and it is also home to the Famous Big Red Barn and Pops right on Route 66, the mother road! You can get different kinds of soda from all over the world. So, as I said, if you book an appointment in the Edmond office and want to do some local sightseeing while you are there, there are so many wonderful things you can get done! Maybe you ought to book the whole weekend- we'd love to have you!
See ya around my town,
